Warning against fake baby food!

Warning against fake baby food!

Warning against the dangers of fake baby food on children's health, Child Health and Diseases Specialist Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yakup Çağ said, "Baby foods used to support the growth and development of babies require great care in production and storage processes. Real baby foods have balanced contents in terms of carbohydrates, fat, protein and essential minerals. This balance is not present in fake baby foods."

"FAKE FOODS NEGATIVELY AFFECT GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT"

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağ stated that real baby food is specially prepared according to the age and needs of babies, and that this balance is disrupted in fake products.

Çağ said, “Growth and developmental delays may be observed in babies fed with such formulas. Babies cannot gain enough weight, their height is not sufficient and various health problems may be encountered. In addition, deficiencies in basic elements such as iron, zinc and iodine may lead to problems such as learning difficulties, attention deficit and regression in cognitive functions.”

BEWARE OF INFECTION AND ALLERGY RISK!

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağ, who emphasized that failure to comply with hygiene rules during the production phase could lead to many problems, said, “This could lead to gastrointestinal diseases such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, as well as various infections in babies. In addition, fake foods may contain unwanted foreign substances. These substances can cause serious allergic reactions such as itching, wheezing, and even anaphylaxis.”

"HEAVY METALS CAN CAUSE LONG-TERM HEALTH PROBLEMS"

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağ, who emphasized that heavy metals such as mercury and lead can sometimes be found in fake baby foods, said, “If babies are exposed to such heavy metals for a long time, serious health problems such as cognitive function decline and liver and kidney failure may develop.”

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağ, who gives important advice to parents about choosing a reliable formula, said, “Be sure to buy formula from pharmacies or reliable markets. Be suspicious of products that are priced too low compared to market conditions. Be careful if there is a tear, deformity or faded writing on the box. Check if it has approval from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Ministry of Health. Be sure to examine the serial and lot numbers. If you observe a difference in color or smell after opening the box, do not use the formula. Also, if symptoms such as restlessness, vomiting, diarrhea are observed after the baby consumes the formula, be sure to report the situation to the relevant institutions.”
