His hand, which was torn apart by a shotgun fire, was reunited with parts taken from his body

Soray, whose right hand was shattered when a shotgun was fired while he was grazing his flock in the Doğubayazıt district on June 1, was taken to the city's health institution with the help of his friends.

After the intervention here, Soray was referred to Van Training and Research Hospital and was taken into surgery by Hand Surgery Specialist Op. Dr. Şuayıp Akıncı and his team.

In an operation that lasted approximately 10 hours, Soray's hand, which was saved from being cut off, was combined with tissue and bone pieces taken from various parts of her body and was largely restored to its former appearance.

Opr. Dr. Akıncı told reporters that the patient was brought to their hospital from Ağrı by ambulance.

Akıncı stated that when they intervened in the patient, the anatomical integrity of the right hand from the wrist level was completely disrupted, and noted the following:

"All fingers were attached to the forearm only by tendons. There was no blood circulation in the fingers. The risk of losing the right hand from the wrist level was quite high. We took the patient into emergency surgery. During the operation, which lasted approximately 10 hours, we first cleaned the dead and malnourished tissues. We had to remove the third and fourth fingers due to their advanced damage. We created a new bone skeleton.

There were serious gaps between the veins feeding the hand and fingers. In order to close these gaps, we took vascular grafts from the patient's leg and foot regions. We re-established blood circulation using these veins. We ended the operation after observing that blood flow had returned to the fingers. The patient was monitored in our hand surgery department after the operation. With the treatment applied, the majority of the patient's hand survived. He will need a series of additional surgeries to regain his functions during the recovery process."

"MY HAND WAS SAVED WITH THE OPERATION"

Soray, whose treatment is ongoing, said, "I was grazing my herd on the mountain. There was a bullet in my hunting rifle. It was fired while I was putting it on the ground, my hand was injured. My friends bandaged my hand. I was taken to the hospital by the 112 Emergency Health teams. When I saw my wound, my vision went black. When I opened my eyes, I realized that I had been brought here. My hand was saved with the operation. I am very happy, may God bless the doctors." (AA) This content was published by Enes Çırtlık
