Nurses in private hospitals receive 100 euro salary increases

Nurses working in private hospitals will receive a salary increase of 100 euros until the beginning of 2026, following the renewal of the agreement between the Portuguese Private Hospital Association (APHP) and the “Commitment to Nursing” Platform, which ensures significant salary changes for nurses assigned to five union structures.
The issue at stake is a salary increase of 50 euros per month, in all professional categories, starting next month (July 1). The agreement also provides for a new salary increase, also of 50 euros, in approximately six months (from January 1, 2026).
Ana César Machado, general secretary of APHP, says that “these salary reviews represent a significant effort to value nursing professionals and reflect the commitment of private hospitals to dignifying the nursing career and promoting more attractive and sustainable working conditions”.
The “Commitment to Nursing” Platform is composed of the Democratic Union of Nurses of Portugal (SINDEPOR), the Independent Union of All United Nurses of the Mainland and Islands (SITEU), the Nurses Union (SE), the Independent Union of Nursing Professionals (SIPEnf) and the National Union of Nurses (SNE),
On May 28, APHP signed a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the Union of Workers in the Services Sector (SITESE) and the Union of Senior Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technicians (SINDITE), both affiliated with the General Workers' Union (UGT). The agreement represented an average salary increase of 75 euros for 9,500 workers from 90 companies in the private hospital sector.
