Cofepris will ban various products harmful to health
PresidentClaudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced this Thursday, August 7, that the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) is preparing various publications to ban products harmful to health.
"(...) We are going to bring in the morning a series of products that have been shown to be harmful to health and that are going to be banned in Mexico; they are already banned in many other places in the world, including the United States," reported.
During "The People's Morning Conference" in the Treasury Room at the National Palace, Sheinbaum Pardo explained that this is done based on research with Cofepris .
"(...) and various institutions in the country are working there, as well as private companies," the federal president emphasized.
Recently, Cofepris recommended discontinuing the use of Colgate Total Prevention Active Toothpaste CLEAN MINT , as it could cause oral irritation, gum inflammation, oral pain, and tooth sensitivity. Through a risk warning, it informed the general public that, in response to complaints of suspected adverse reactions, the company has been instructed to withdraw this product, manufactured in Mexico, from the market.
He indicated that individual sensitivity to ingredients may vary; however, the public is urged to be alert for any symptoms they experience: oral irritation, gum inflammation, oral pain, tooth sensitivity, ulcers, canker sores or boils, and an allergic reaction.
"If you have Colgate Total Active Prevention Toothpaste, Clean Mint, please contact the company to request a return. Please note that the recall is limited exclusively to Colgate Total Active Prevention Toothpaste, Clean Mint," the agency stated.
On August 4, the government assured that it would maintain health surveillance measures and inform the public if it identified new evidence, in order to prevent products, services, or establishments from violating current health legislation and posing a risk to the public's health.
