Healing spreading from Anatolia to the world: Thyme gives hope in the fight against cancer!

The Congress on Micronutrient and Aromatherapy Supplements in Holistic Treatments, held yesterday, addressed the health effects of herbal supplements. Attendees included CEO Mustafa Can, Dr. Burak Aydın, and Assistant Professor Selin Aktar.

Dr. Burak Aydın, discussing the effects of herbs on cancer cells, said, "Unfortunately, environmental factors and our lifestyles increase the risk of cancer. It's very common in society. Almost every family has cancer. Along with the active drugs currently in use, we have herbal formulas that can reduce the severity of cancer. One of these natural products is standardized thyme . Scientific research has shown that when used correctly and standardized using scientific methods, the active ingredient carvacrol in thyme creates a powerful protective mechanism against cancer cells."
Dr. Aydın emphasized the special nature of thyme, a plant native to the Mediterranean basin and supplied by Türkiye for nearly 70 percent of the world's needs. He said, "A few years ago, we experienced a pandemic and witnessed how helpless a virus invisible even with a microscope can be. During that time, we received significant support from a seemingly simple plant: thyme. Its potency is extremely high; its active ingredient, carvacrol, is quite potent. Currently, studies conducted in our country on the therapeutic properties of carvacrol related to cancer are attracting attention. We will soon see the active use of thyme preparations and standardized products in cancer treatment. Thyme, which came to the aid of humanity during the pandemic and spread from Anatolia to the world, may play a significant role in the solution to cancer in the future."

Dr. Aydın emphasized that carvacrol has significant effects not only on cancer but also on intestinal health and the immune system, saying, "Pharmaceutically standardizing carvacrol is crucial. This substance also provides significant benefits in balancing intestinal flora and strengthening the immune system. When used at the correct dosage and formulation, carvacrol has great potential as both a protective and supportive natural ingredient."

Assistant Professor Selin Aktar Kiremitçi said, "Our purpose here today was to highlight the anticancer properties of certain essential oil components through their synergistic effects. We shared our research with the participants. We had a very productive congress, and we are continuing our research. So far, we have studied breast, lung, pancreatic, and prostate cancer cells. We observe that the anticancer potential of these essential oil components increases with their synergistic effects."
