Praia da Luz Nursing Station is now operational

Praia da Luz Nursing Station is now operational

The service is now operational to provide healthcare during the bathing season, between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm, with a nurse present to ensure the provision of first aid.

As part of the Algarve Local Health Unit's ( ULS Algarve ) "Beach Stations" project, this station aims to strengthen the health response in Algarve municipalities, a goal that the municipality of Lagos has been supporting. One of the project's main objectives is to reduce the number of patients in primary and hospital care settings, helping to alleviate pressure on Emergency Services.

The clinic is equipped to treat situations such as falls, abrasions, sunburns, spider stings, and minor ailments. In more serious cases, patients are referred to appropriate health facilities.

This outreach service is supported by the Portuguese Red Cross – Lagos Branch and the Luz Parish Council, reinforcing the response to the health, safety and well-being of beach users while simultaneously promoting the region's image as a safe beach destination.

It should be noted that Porto de Mós Beach also has a first aid station, operated by the Lagos Fire Department, between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm, also during the bathing season.
