One change has revolutionized registration at a clinic, office or bank. All thanks to the electronic ID card in the mObywatel application. The document is just as important as a physical ID card. And that means it is enough to make an appointment with a doctor.
The Ministry of Digital Affairs estimated at the end of last year that over 8 million people use mDowod in the mObywatel mobile application. The ministry reminded that mDowod is a separate, electronic, full-fledged identity document with a different series, number and expiry date than a traditional ID.
In Poland, it is as important as a physical ID card, so you can use it to identify yourself, for example, in offices, banks, medical facilities, at the post office, at a notary's office or at the election commission to confirm your identity, also offline, i.e. without access to the Internet. At the moment, mDowód is not recognized abroad.
The mDowod in the mObywatel application can be used by anyone who is over 13 years old, has a valid ID card, a trusted profile (or another acceptable means of identification, e.g. electronic banking) and uses a smartphone with the Android operating system version 7.0. (or newer) or with the iOS 15 system (or higher). The function confirms identity using a phone and a QR code and has a certificate that must be renewed every year.
The electronic ID card is one of the flagship services of mObywatel 2.0, a public and free mobile application that stores electronic versions of documents.
