The University of Lodz has closed the first stage of student recruitment. Applicants could apply for 92 fields of study. Psychology was the most popular, with nearly 15 applicants for each spot. Forensic biology and English philology were also popular.

More universities are closing the first stage of recruitment for full-time first-cycle and full-time long-cycle master's programs in the 2025/26 academic year. The University of Lodz announced that psychology was once again the most popular major chosen by prospective students. The total number of candidates participating in the recruitment process at Lodz's largest university was 10,394, including 8,940 for first-cycle programs and 2,792 for long-cycle master's programs.

The University of Lodz has prepared a total of 7.1 thousand places for new students in 92 full-time study programs.

Nearly 15 applicants per spot in psychology were eligible. Other top candidates were forensic biology, with over 11 applicants per spot; English studies, with over 8 applicants; and management, marketing, and international relations, with over 7 applicants.

There were also more than 6 candidates per place in the following fields: business management, journalism, media and communication design, film studies and audiovisual media studies; and more than 5 in the following fields: speech therapy with audiology, new media and digital culture, theatre production and event organization, cultural studies, international journalism and national security.

"This confirms that the University of Lodz's educational offerings are strong, current, and attractive. This is evident in the popularity of programs such as psychology, management, media, and English studies," said Iwona Ptaszek-Zielińska, spokesperson for the University of Lodz, summarizing the first phase of recruitment.

The university will announce the list of accepted applicants by July 30. The second round of admissions will take place between August 5 and September 15. It will apply to selected programs where the quota for admissions is not filled during the regular admission period.
