David Kershenobich Stalnikowitz, Secretary of Health (Ssa), reported that as of today there are 809 confirmed cases of whooping cough. and 48 deaths from this disease in 15 states of Mexico, all in children under one year of age.

In the Health Cabinet's Biweekly Report, the Minister of Health compared the same week in 2024 with only 60 cases reported, which, he indicated, represents a percentage increase of 1,240.

He detailed that the 809 confirmed cases are mainly located in Mexico City, Nuevo León, and Chihuahua.

"Of those 809 cases, we have unfortunately had 48 deaths in children under one year of age," he said.

He detailed that Chihuahua is the entity with the highest number of confirmed cases with 560 , followed by Sonora with 5; Campeche and Oaxaca with 4 cases; while Durango and Zacatecas with 3, and Sinaloa and Tamaulipas each have 2 cases.

The Health Minister emphasized that the national vaccination program continues to be strengthened and stated that there are sufficient vaccines available to meet the country's needs.

David Kershenobich Stalnikowitz indicated that Regarding distribution by sex, the predominance is in men with 504% and 49.6% in women.

The age group most affected by measles is the 25-44 age group, followed by the 1-4 age group.
