the round of nominations

After the row over Gemmato's conflict of interest and his unfortunate statements on vaccines, the line of caution has prevailed, in an attempt to avoid new controversies. At least for the moment

The round of appointments at the Ministry of Health has been skipped . For about a month, the promotion to deputy minister for Marcello Gemmato and the return of Andrea Costa as undersecretary had been taken for granted. However, the line of caution has won and, we can say, Minister Schillaci has won. Gemmato is seen as a character capable of attracting controversy too easily. Just think of one of his first unfortunate public outings in which he questioned the role of vaccines in combating the pandemic .

Without forgetting the row over conflict of interest: Gemmato in fact owns 10 percent of the company Therapia Srl which advertises the possibility of having diagnostic tests "without having to wait for the long times of the public health system". The attempt (which went up in smoke) to nominate fellow pharmacist Danilo Lozupone, owner of a pharmacy in the same Bari as Gemmato, to Aifa also caused controversy. In the end, caution prevailed, in an attempt to avoid new controversies. At least for the moment.
