Fruit and yogurt, the perfect beach lunch for the doctor. With a bonus of ice cream.

Yes to ice cream even every evening if you then go for a walk
The habit of eating on the beach is making a comeback, thanks to the need to keep vacation costs low and the not-always-affordable prices of seaside restaurants. The cooler no longer contains the high-calorie dishes of the 1960s, but rather sandwiches and paninis. Is this the right choice? "Not really: 'Beach' foods must certainly be practical, accessible without having to be particularly well-equipped, but also highly digestible, and this is not the case with sandwiches. So, fruit should be the first choice," explains dietitian and phytotherapist Ciro Vestita to Adnkronos Salute.
"Eating fruit," she continues, "means energizing yourself and, at the same time, consuming fluids, but especially mineral salts. Under the umbrella, in fact, we perspire intensely, losing a lot of fluids. Drinking lots of water is good, but you also need mineral salts, and fruit is rich in micronutrients."
In short, they are "our natural supplements." But among the various fruits, "there is a hierarchy. The absolute best choice," suggests Vestita, "is watermelon, because it contains very few calories, lots of fluids, lots of mineral salts, and is highly digestible. A slice of watermelon eaten mid-morning allows you to quickly recharge." In second place, "is melon, followed by peaches, which are extremely fresh and highly digestible. " Along with fruit, at lunch, you can "add yogurt, even two standard tubs . But it must be, contrary to popular belief, strictly full-fat yogurt," the expert specifies, "because remember that fat-soluble vitamins, such as vitamin A and vitamin D, are found in milk fat: yogurt should be eaten whole. And you can also add honey."
Eating lightly in summer "is a great help for the body. Even in the evening, fresh salads and legumes, such as beans, are preferable ," Vestita recommends. But since vacation is also about socializing, "an evening barbecue with friends is a must. Obviously, you shouldn't overdo it, but you shouldn't give it up either. The same goes for pizza. With one health precaution: any charred part must be removed." Finally, dessert. " Ice cream is the summer treat. You can eat it every day, in the evening or afternoon , as long as you then take a walk—on the beach, along the promenade, or wherever you prefer—to burn off those few extra calories that ice cream provides."
