Venarey-Les Laumes. The Auxois-Morvan region is acquiring a new local health contract.

"It's a happy day for Auxois-Morvan." On Friday, May 23, Patrick Molinoz, president of the Auxois-Morvan Territorial and Rural Balance Pole (PETR), signed a new local health contract for the period 2025-2029 at the Venarey-Les Laumes town hall with the regional health agency (ARS), the Region, the Department, and their partners.
Over the next four years, concrete actions are planned "to reduce social and territorial health inequalities" in Auxois-Morvan, a vast rural area in Côte-d'Or with nearly 60,000 inhabitants and 211 municipalities. Three major themes have been identified by all partners, following the first local health contract signed in 2016: medical demography, mental health, and prevention.
On the issue of medical demographics, the objective will be "to encourage the establishment of healthcare professionals and improve their working conditions," explained Aline Guibelin, Côte-d'Or territorial director of the ARS. For example, " the temporary practice in Venarey [opening in 2024] guarantees access to care in the area, pending the arrival of a doctor or the creation of a health center."
In addition, an agent was recruited last year by the Pays Auxois-Morvan, thanks to funding from the ARS and the Region, "to facilitate procedures and support installation projects."

Alain Mathieu, director of the PETR, who has been heavily involved in the local health contract, also cites "another preventative action that was implemented this year across the region." These are the small, free red boxes in which residents can store health information they deem essential in the event of emergency services or caregivers arriving at their home. This time-saving measure can save lives.

"The health problem in our country is one of the main factors in the current fracturing of society. The situation is very complicated, especially in rural areas. We must therefore mobilize," declared Patrick Molinoz, who fears a long-term deterioration of the situation for patients in Auxois-Morvan, most of whom are aging. "Lack of professionals = lack of prevention = lack of follow-up = inevitably the development of pathologies."
