Savigny-le-Sec. In memory of their friend, they are raising funds for cancer.

In 2020, Catherine Vérité, a player on the Entente Football Villages (EFV) women's team, died of cancer after a long battle with the disease. Her death "strongly affected her friends and teammates" who, "to pay tribute to her with a unifying project that reflects her," created Team EFV Strong Against Cancer, explained Laurence Barbosa, a former player on the women's team, on March 20, 2022 .
On Friday, May 16, the Team organized a soccer tournament in Savigny-le-Sec. "Sixteen teams of eight, or 128 players, responded," said a delighted Laurence Barbosa.
Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Georges-François-Leclerc Regional Cancer Center (CGFL) in Dijon. "The football tournament's registration fees have already raised €320," Laurence Barbosa said. This will be supplemented by profits from the refreshment bar, the raffle, and the donation box. The team "hopes to donate €1,500 to the CGFL."
The various events organized in 2024 by Team EFV strong against cancer have made it possible to offer €5,500 to the CGFL . Nearly €18,000 has been donated to the CGFL since the Team began organizing its actions. "75% of the money is dedicated to cancer research and the remaining quarter to the well-being of patients," informs Laurence Barbosa. She points out that part of the money donated contributed "to the purchase of a cutting-edge device, called Rhapsody, at a total cost of €58,000, to perform sequencing and provide a clear image of the cells of a tumor to better fight it."
