Raedersdorf: Blood donors celebrate 50 years of altruism

Blood transfusion centers have changed a lot since the 1950s: "Back then, donors had to go to blood transfusion centers," recalls Elisabeth Meister, president of the Raedersdorf and Surrounding Area Blood Donor Association, on the occasion of the association's 50th anniversary. "Then mobile blood drives developed thanks to trucks, even on Sunday mornings in front of the town hall, with a quart of red wine offered with the snack. Today, blood drives take place in rooms provided by the municipalities," the president continues.
