"I wanted to do something for my nephew Ewen by doing what I do best, which is running!" This is how Albin Soldati, a resident of Is-sur-Tille, sums up the challenge he has just taken on to support his great-nephew Ewen.

On June 27, he will set off to tackle one of the most technical trails in France, the 90 km of Mont Blanc , to collect donations for his nephew who suffers from a rare genetic disease.

Indeed, the 6 and a half year old boy, who lives in Tarsul, suffers from Koolen de Vries syndrome . "This disease causes motor and mental retardation. He has been walking for two years, but he still doesn't speak. Besides that, he goes to school in Is-sur-Tille with the support of an AESH (accompanist for students with disabilities) as well as paramedical monitoring and he has eight medical appointments per week," explains his mother, Caroline Herbelot, who created an association, Ewen ma bataille , to raise funds to finance her son's care.

About four times a year, Ewen completes internships at a conductive school in Talant. His mother also wants to take him to a clinic in Barcelona, Spain, so he can follow a treatment program tailored to his condition. This is why the association organizes various events each year. On June 22, the association is participating in the wellness event in Villecomte, and a concert in Tarsul will be scheduled for July 5.

This is also why Albin Soldati set himself the challenge of completing this race around Mont Blanc, which is actually 92 km long. "With my sister-in-law Caroline, we set up a system of donation pledges in which people can participate by paying a sum for each kilometer that I cover via an online platform or by contacting the association on social networks or on Helloasso . My goal is of course to finish the race," Ewen's uncle tells us. A video presenting this challenge has also been online since April to collect pledges.

Of course, Albin Soldati is no novice at such a challenge, as he is a member of the Savigny Trail Club association in Savigny-le-Sec. "I run three times a week and have already participated in mountain ultra-trails, notably in Annecy and the Beaufortin region."

The race, which boasts nearly 6,500 m of elevation gain and loss, often takes place between 2,000 and 2,500 m above sea level. 1,000 runners are at the start and they have a maximum of 25 hours, with seven full refreshment stops and one light refreshment stop, to finish the race. Ewen's father, Samuel, will be providing refreshment. While the goal is already to finish this race, Albin Soldati tells us: "I'd like to take about 22 hours to complete the race."
