In the Landes region, an appeal has been launched to find the savior of a septuagenarian who suffered a cardiac arrest.

It was just after 1 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, in the La Vignotte housing estate in St-Martin-d'Oney, when Francine, 69, was awakened by the alarm of the "life vest" her husband has been wearing since a heart attack in 2023. This device is a connected defibrillator vest that is automatically triggered in the event of cardiac arrest. After alerting emergency services, Francine saw a stranger arrive at her home, phone in hand, asking if anyone was in distress.
From what the family understood, the man, probably on vacation in the region, was alerted via an app connected to the medical vest. While the vest's defibrillator helped wake the septuagenarian, the stranger performed emergency procedures and helped keep her husband conscious until the firefighters arrived. "He kept reassuring me, he was a great support. He was extraordinary. When the firefighters arrived, he stood back beside me," Francine told Ici Gascogne . The stranger then left, without giving his name.
Moved, their son Michaël launched an appeal on social media to find this anonymous rescuer. "We would like to be able to thank him. His gesture may have saved our father's life. He is a hero."
