How many liters of soda do Mexicans consume per year on average?

This week, the head of the Ministry of Health (Ssa), David Kershenobich, warned about the risks of sugary drink consumption in Mexico, which tends to begin at an early age.
In a morning press conference with President Claudia Sheinbaum, the secretary noted that Mexico and Colombia are the countries that consume the most of these products, and that "such high mortality rates continue."
How many liters of soda does a Mexican consume per year?Noting that our country is one of the countries that consumes the most sugary drinks, Kershenobich said that the average Mexican consumes 166 liters of soda per year: "A Mexican consumes an average of 166 liters of soft drinks per year. We are one of the countries that consumes the most sugary drinks."

Risks of excessive consumption of sugary drinksThe official indicated that drinking these types of beverages increases the risk of diseases such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes, heart and cardiovascular disease, diabetic foot, ulcers, fatty liver disease, cirrhosis, and chronic kidney damage, among others.
Noting the health risks caused by these beverages, which in some cases require hemodialysis, the head of the Ssa said that last year there were approximately 190,000 deaths from cardiovascular disease; 110,000 from diabetes mellitus.
