Organ transplant centers operating throughout Turkey vary in type and the types of transplants they perform. Training and research hospitals have a total of 38 centers: 2 lung, 19 kidney, 4 heart, 2 heart-lung, 9 liver, and 2 pancreas transplant centers. Private hospitals have 13 kidney, 7 liver, and 2 pancreas transplant centers, totaling 22 centers.

A total of 48 centers operate in state university hospitals, including 1 lung, 21 kidney, 6 heart, 18 liver, and 2 pancreas transplant centers. Foundation university hospitals also have 21 kidney, 4 heart, 12 liver, and 4 pancreas transplant centers. These hospitals also have 41 centers.

A total of 149 organ transplant centers are operating throughout Türkiye, including 3 lung, 74 kidney, 14 heart, 2 heart-lung, 46 liver and 10 pancreas transplant centers.

Türkiye is among the countries with the highest organ transplant survival rate.

According to ministry data, an average of 5,000 organ transplants are performed annually in Türkiye. Ninety percent of these transplants are from living donors.

Türkiye is among the most successful countries in the world in terms of survival rates after organ transplantation.

According to 2024 data, 3,468 kidney transplants (3,121 living, 347 deceased donors) and 1,731 liver transplants (1,543 living, 188 deceased donors) were performed. In the same year, 43 heart, 18 lung, 1 pancreas, and 3 small intestine transplants were performed.

As of October 2025, 2,683 kidney transplants (2,281 living, 402 deceased donors) and 1,410 liver transplants (1,188 living, 222 deceased donors) have been performed. In addition, 41 heart, 16 lung, 1 small intestine, and 1 pancreas transplants were performed during this 10-month period.

When the number of patients waiting for organ transplants in Türkiye is examined by year, the number of patients waiting increased from 32,863 in 2023 to 33,589 in 2024. As of October 2025, this number was recorded as 32,936.

When examined according to organ transplant types, by the end of 2023, 24,551 people were on the waiting list for kidney transplants, 2,592 for liver transplants, 1,450 for heart transplants, 198 for lung transplants, 277 for pancreas transplants, 1 for small intestine transplants and 3,794 for cornea transplants.

By the end of 2024, these numbers were determined as 25,438 for the kidney, 2,674 for the liver, 1,510 for the heart, 211 for the lung , 267 for the pancreas, 2 for the small intestine and 3,487 for the cornea.

As of October 2025, the number of patients waiting for kidney transplantation was recorded as 25,651, 2,504 for liver, 1,540 for heart, 207 for lung, 235 for pancreas, 4 for small intestine and 2,795 for cornea.

Türkiye ranks first in the world in kidney and liver transplants

Türkiye shares its success in organ transplants with the entire world by serving patients from all over the world.

Since 2011, a total of 7,915 foreign patients have successfully undergone organ transplantation, including 4,948 kidney and 2,967 liver transplants.

Türkiye is among the best countries in the world in terms of living donor organ transplants, the number of transplants, and post-transplant survival rates.

According to the data on "living donors" per million population in developed countries, Turkey ranks first with 36.16% (3,121 people) in living donor kidney transplants and 17.88% (1,543 people) in living donor liver transplants.
