The Constitutional Court rejected Murat Çalık's request for release.

The Constitutional Court rejected the request for release for Beylikdüzü Mayor Mehmet Murat Çalık, who was arrested during operations against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. Çalık will remain in custody pending trial.
The following statements were made in the Constitutional Court's interim decision:
"It has been decided to reject the applicant's request for a measure to be released at this stage, to continuously monitor the applicant's health and the conditions of detention to ensure they are consistent with his health, and to take all necessary measures, including treatment, examination, and hospitalization, if his health condition requires it."
Beylikdüzü Mayor Murat Çalık was arrested during operations against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and sent first to Silivri Prison and then to Izmir Buca Prison.
TELE1 had previously reported that Çalık had undergone cancer treatment twice in the past. Hospital reports indicated that Çalık, who is currently in prison, was at risk of recurrence, but the Forensic Medicine Board's report stated that there was "no risk of cancer recurrence."
