She accidentally drank it, her life was ruined: The little girl couldn't even drink water from her mouth for 2 years!

Şehed Muhammed, whose esophagus was seriously damaged after drinking a drain cleaner two years ago in Şanlıurfa , regained his health after receiving treatment at Harran University Hospital.
According to the statement made by the hospital, 3-year-old foreign national Şehed Muhammed accidentally drank drain opener while playing at home 2 years ago. The family noticed the situation and applied to Harran University Hospital.
After the examination by the Head of the Department of Pediatric Surgery, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Boleken, the little boy was taken into treatment. After a difficult treatment process and a successful surgery, the 5-year-old child held on to life 2 years later.
Harran University Hospital Pediatric Surgery Department Head Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Boleken reminded that when the little boy applied to them, they detected a serious burn in his esophagus.
Boleken, who explained that the child, who was treated in intensive care for a long time, could not be fed orally for months due to difficulty swallowing, said, "We applied esophageal dilations every month. However, these attempts did not respond. Over time, our patient could only be fed with a tube placed through the abdominal wall into the stomach. This child could not even drink water from his mouth for two years."
Prof. Dr. Boleken continued by stating that they created a new esophagus for the patient using stomach tissue:
"This was a very complex and long-term surgery. The surgery was performed by a multidisciplinary team consisting of pediatric surgery, thoracic surgery and general surgery.
Prof. Dr. Atalay Şahin from Thoracic Surgery, Prof. Dr. Faik Tatlı from General Surgery and Dr. Fevzi Kahveci from Pediatric Intensive Care Specialist made critical contributions to the process. A great effort was made by everyone from anesthesia to nurses, intensive care personnel to dietitians. This success is truly teamwork."
Harran University Hospital Chief Physician Assoc. Prof. Dr. İdris Kırhan also thanked the healthcare team and said, "We are progressing towards becoming the healthcare base of the region. In such cases, we touch the lives of our children thanks to the multidisciplinary approach.
However, this incident has shown us once again that the most effective method in child health is prevention. We will continue to create social awareness."
