Rain hits Istanbul! Traffic is blocked

Rain hits Istanbul! Traffic is blocked

According to Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) data, traffic density was measured at 80 percent as of 3:00 p.m. Long vehicle queues formed on main arteries throughout the city.

On the European side, traffic congestion has occurred at many points along the D-100 highway and the TEM Highway. The congestion, which began in Beylikdüzü, occasionally ground to a halt along the Avcılar, Küçükçekmece, and Bakırköy routes. A traffic accident in the right lane of the D-100 highway between Yenibosna and Sefaköy is causing the congestion.

Traffic congestion has also increased around the TEM access roads and the Mahmutbey toll booths. The congestion begins in Hasdal, towards the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge.

Vehicles also travel slowly along the coastal road between Karaköy and Beşiktaş Square.

On the Anatolian Side, traffic congestion was observed on the D-100 highway, starting from Kadıköy and heading towards Ataşehir, Maltepe and Kartal.

Vehicle density also increased on the Ümraniye, Ataşehir and Sancaktepe routes of the TEM Highway.

There are long waiting times when travelling towards the European side of the Eurasia Tunnel and bridge crossings.

In places where vehicles could not move forward, some people were seen trying to sell water and flowers to drivers.
