Neglected heart diseases may be the cause of sudden deaths
Prof. Dr. Cander, President of the Association of Emergency Medicine Specialists (ATUDER), said in Antalya, where he came for health congresses, that unexpected sudden deaths have attracted more attention in the medical world in recent years.
Stating that there has been an increase in sudden deaths due to heart attacks, Cander said, "There are many sudden deaths due to heart attacks. We see people who have lost their lives at the top of trees. Normally, people fall from trees and nothing happens, but how do they die in trees? This is not normal. Sudden deaths need to be investigated much more."
Drawing attention to the fact that sudden deaths can also be caused by reasons such as heart rhythm disorders, Cander explained that awareness should be raised on how to intervene in cardiac arrests.
Cander noted that sudden deaths have always been important, but unexpected deaths have increased recently, especially in certain age groups.
"PROTECTIVE MEASURES ARE OF VITAL IMPORTANCE"Recalling the sudden death of Volkan Konak, who fell ill during a concert he gave in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and died in hospital, Cander mentioned that Hasan Erdoğan, who fell ill while climbing a plane tree to prune in Bartın, also lost his life on the tree.
Prof. Dr. Cander spoke as follows: "We see sudden deaths on stage, in trees. We also witness someone who is very well suddenly deteriorating. Sudden deaths usually occur due to neglected reasons such as heart diseases or rhythm disorders. We need to increase public awareness and spread preventive health services. Someone who had a heart examination three months ago should not have a heart attack today. Such preventive measures are of vital importance."
Emphasizing that there may be an illness or a neglected heart condition underlying the deaths, Cander said that as emergency medicine specialists, they always examine these issues by putting them on their agenda.
