Former Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Tunç Soyer, who was detained in an operation carried out in the morning hours of July 1st as part of the investigation launched by the Izmir Republic Chief Prosecutor's Office against the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, was referred to the courthouse today. Soyer, who gave his statement at the prosecutor's office, was referred to the court with a request for his arrest.
Following all these developments, Soyer made the following statement on social media:
"We have been detained for four days in an unjust, unlawful, so-called operation. I answered all the questions about us at the police department openly. Today, we will seek justice at the courthouse with my friends. I repeat, there is no question in our file that has no answer, there is service, love for our country, love for Izmir. 'Those who know us know, those who don't know us know as they do.' Today, my only expectation for myself, for my friends, for Türkiye: Rights, law, justice!"
