Airstrike from Israel to Syria! 1 dead

According to Syrian state television, Al-Ihbariyya, Israel struck the village of Zama in the Jablah district of Latakia province.

Local sources reported that one civilian was killed in the airstrike.

The Israeli army said in a statement that a weapons depot in the Latakia region, which allegedly posed a threat to international and Israeli freedom of navigation, was targeted.

It was claimed that surface-to-air missiles were also targeted in the Latakia region in the attack.

The statement noted that "the Israeli army will continue to operate to maintain freedom of movement in the region," and conveyed the message that Israel's attacks on Syria will continue.

Israel, which has carried out frequent air strikes on Syrian territory since the overthrow of the Baath regime, demands that the south of the country be a demilitarized zone, in violation of the sovereignty of the Syrian state, and that it have freedom of airspace in order to launch attacks in the event of a so-called threat.

US President Donald Trump's decision to lift sanctions on Syria has caused unease in Israel, which has been critical of the Damascus government.

US Ambassador to Ankara and Special Representative for Syria Thomas Barrack, in an interview with Syria TV, said that the relations between Israel and the US are not based on religion but are strategic and security-oriented, and said, "The US's role here is simply to initiate dialogue. We want peace here."
