Pregnant woman loses baby on way to Cascais hospital

Pregnant woman loses baby on way to Cascais hospital

A pregnant woman, who had a high-risk pregnancy, lost her baby on Thursday due to the closure of all obstetric emergency rooms in the South Bank.

According to RTP, the 38-year-old woman tried to call SNS24 when she realized she had stopped feeling the baby, but without success.

She ended up being taken to a hospital more than an hour away from her home, in Barreiro, after being rescued by 112, which took her to Cascais Hospital.

However, she had suffered internal bleeding and, when she arrived at the emergency room, the baby had already died.

Also last weekend, a woman who was 40 weeks pregnant lost her baby after being transferred to five hospitals in 13 days.
