The Medical University of Silesia in Katowice announced on Wednesday the launch of a new postgraduate program: "MBA: Quality and Innovation Management in Healthcare." The program will begin in the 2025/2026 academic year and, according to the university, will be the first of its kind in Poland.
The program was developed in collaboration with two leading clinical facilities: the Burn Treatment Center in Siemianowice Śląskie and the Upper Silesian Medical Center named after Professor Leszek Giec in Katowice. Both institutions are known for advanced management, digitalization, and the implementation of innovations in healthcare.
The program is targeted at managers of hospitals, clinics, pharmaceutical companies and medtech startups, as well as representatives of public administration and professionals who want to deepen their knowledge of modern management in the healthcare system.
– We combine classic MBA elements, such as management, economics, law, and marketing, with the latest methods of quality management and innovation in healthcare – emphasized Prof. Jerzy Stojko, Vice-Rector for Studies and Students at the Medical University of Silesia.
The program includes three study visits to medical centers – CLO, HELIMED Patient Experience Center and GCM – where participants will learn best practices in management, organization and patient service.
As part of the training, participants will explore methods such as: Lean Management - aimed at eliminating waste and increasing efficiency, Theory of Constraints (TOC) - enabling the identification of bottlenecks in organizational systems, and Six Sigma - an approach based on data analysis and statistics.
The program focuses on case analysis, data utilization, and process standardization, which is expected to translate into real improvements in the functioning of medical facilities.
The first edition of the program will begin in the 2025/2026 academic year. Classes will be held in a hybrid format, exclusively on weekends. The program lasts three semesters and culminates in an MBA diploma, which qualifies students to serve on supervisory boards of state-owned companies.
Recruitment is already underway. Space is limited. (PAP)
