On October 29th, a regulation of the Council of Ministers was published in the Journal of Laws granting Lidzbark Warmiński the status of a health resort as of January 1st, 2026. This will enable the treatment of many ailments.
- Lidzbark Warmiński will receive the status of a health resort from January 1, 2026
- The regulation was signed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk
- The spa will treat, among others, diseases of the nervous system and rheumatology, but also - this is a new scope - diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract.
Today , the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 24 October 2025 on granting the status of a health resort to the Health Resort of the city of Lidzbark Warmiński and the villages of Medyny and Łabno, located within the Lidzbark Warmiński commune, was published in the Journal of Laws.
Based on Article 42 paragraph 2 of the Act of 28 July 2005 on health resort treatment, health resorts and health resort protection areas and on health resort municipalities (Journal of Laws of 2025, item 1135), it was ordered that from 1 January 2026 :
- The Spa Estate of the city of Lidzbark Warmiński and the villages of Medyny and Łabno, located in the area of the commune of Lidzbark Warmiński, in the Lidzbark County, in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , is granted the status of a spa town.
- The health resort will be named " Uzdrowisko Lidzbark Warmiński" .
The published regulation was signed by Prime Minister Donald Tusk. At the same time, the regulation of the Council of Ministers of 17 May 2016 on granting health resort protection area status to the Lidzbark Warmiński Spa Estate and the villages of Medyny and Łabno located within the Lidzbark Warmiński commune ceases to apply.
Therapeutic possibilities of Lidzbark WarmińskiLidzbark Warmiński is a small town with a population of just over 14,000. From 1350 until the 19th century, it was the capital of Warmia and formerly its largest city.
Eight tourist trails run through the city: hiking, biking, driving, and kayaking. The most famous are the Copernicus Trail and the Gothic Castle Trail. The city is home to the Warmian Thermal Baths, the first thermal spa in northern Poland.
Due to the ongoing efforts to build a spa treatment facility – the Accessmedica Spa Center – and spa treatment facilities – a spa park, ten exercise paths, two brine graduation towers, and a therapeutic pool, all prepared for spa treatment, the city authorities began efforts to change the status from a protected spa area to a spa resort in November 2024. The city's mayor submitted a motion to the Minister of Health regarding this matter.
Spa treatment is to be carried out in the following areas:
- cardiovascular diseases and hypertension,
- orthopedic-traumatic,
- diseases of the nervous system,
- rheumatological diseases,
- new scope: diseases of the upper and lower respiratory tract
