Profeco: These are the best brands of turkey ham at a low price.

The Federal Consumer Protection Agency took on the task of investigating 40 different types of hams and sausages, with the aim of making people aware of all the characteristics of the products they consume, and thus, ensure that they make an informed purchase based on their needs.

Profeco conducted this study on a total of 40 different products from March 13 to May 12, 2025, while the acquisition of hams and sausages took place from March 13 to April 10 of this year.

During this study we analyzed 14 commercial turkey hams, 4 commercial leg hams, 2 commercial turkey and pork hams, 1 commercial turkey and pork ham, 3 budget turkey and pork hams, 2 budget turkey hams, 1 vegan imitation ham and 13 products with different names that are presented as sausages, although here we will only see the different types of hams.

What points did Profeco take into account when analyzing the hams?

To provide a starting point and ensure that all hams were studied and judged equally, Profeco determined a total of 11 points, which are as follows:

• Commercial information such as brand, batch, expiration date, name, company name and address, nutritional declaration, conservation legend, country of origin, net contents, classification, allergens, ingredients, and front-of-pack labeling system.

• Humidity
• Ashes

• Nitrites
• Sodium
• Energy content

What were the best budget turkey hams?

Once these characteristics were taken into account, they determined that the following hams were the best based on compliance with the aforementioned:

• Mexican Bafar: $29 pesos, price per package.
• Classic Bafar: $136 pesos, price per package.
• Bafar lunch: $30 pesos, price per package.
• Chimex: $140 pesos, price per package.
• The Mexican: $295 pesos, price per package.

You must take into account that, according to the data collected by Profeco, All the turkey hams analyzed had errors in their presentation and marketing information. However, for this list, the hams' compliance with the various points analyzed was taken into account. and the cost of each product was also considered.
