Jalisco has no deaths from dengue this year

As of epidemiological week 24 of this year, Jalisco has not recorded any confirmed deaths from dengue, the Jalisco Ministry of Health ( SSJ ) reported. This cutoff, dated June 19, represents positive progress in containing the disease, although authorities are urging people to remain vigilant.

The result is attributed to the coordinated work between health institutions and citizen participation in prevention and control actions against the transmitting mosquito.

Jalisco has a robust epidemiological surveillance system, which includes trained personnel, available diagnostic testing, and active brigades in communities. So far in 2025, sample processing has increased by 23 percent compared to the previous year, allowing for the timely detection of suspected cases.

Currently, 1,064 SSJ and OPD Health Services Jalisco workers are participating in prevention efforts. Seventy-seven vehicles were added to transport brigade members, assist with suspected cases, and carry out nebulization operations.

During the year, nearly 769,000 homes were visited; larval control and awareness-raising activities were carried out in more than 400,000. In addition, more than 18,000 ovitraps were installed in the 13 Health Regions, and the use of guppies as a biological method for eliminating larvae is being promoted.

The strategy includes eliminating breeding sites in schools, cemeteries, sports facilities, and public spaces, as well as door-to-door visits in coordination with municipalities.

The SSJ reminds everyone that the Wash, Cover, Flip, and Throw campaign remains crucial. If you experience symptoms of dengue, you should go to the nearest health center and avoid self-medication. For guidance, the Jalisco Health Line is available at 33-3823-3220, every day of the year.
