IMSS strengthens medical care with new ambulances for safe transportation in Jalisco.

The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Jalisco strengthened its operational capacity with the addition of 47 new ambulances. These vehicles will begin operating immediately in Family Medicine Units (FMU) and General District Hospitals (GDZ). This renewal of the vehicle fleet will improve patient transfers and ensure a more efficient and safe service.
Dr. Karla Guadalupe López López, head of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) in Jalisco, reported that approximately 3,200 transfers are made monthly in the state, 60 percent of which are scheduled, meaning they are coordinated according to medical indications to provide secondary or third-level care in hospitals in the state or even in other regions of the country.
We recommend: Valeria Márquez had not reported any previous threats, Jalisco authorities say."The remaining 40 percent corresponds to urgent transfers from family medicine units to hospitals, so each of these ambulances is equipped in accordance with the Mexican Official Standard NOM-034-SSA3-2013," the official explained.
The new units meet the minimum infrastructure and equipment requirements established for prehospital care. Their features include a fixed "Chase Longe" bench that allows for the transfer of one patient lying down or three patients sitting down, a mobile stretcher cart certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards, and a folding marine-style stretcher.
They are also equipped with "M" and "E" type oxygen tanks, a fixed oxygen system, wall outlets for oxygen and suction, lighting equipment and internationally certified audible signals (SAE, KKK, NFPA), all designed for use in emergency vehicles.
"These high-tech vehicles allow us to provide better services to users who require specialized and scheduled transportation, whether from their home to a medical unit or between different units, in a safe and timely manner." concluded López López.
With this delivery, the IMSS Jalisco takes another step in modernizing its prehospital services and reaffirms its commitment to quality medical care.
