Claudia Laura Vázquez Espinoza, head of the IMSS's Directorate of Innovation and Technological Development (DIDT), said that from November of last year to January 2025, the tool has more than 36,000 registered users .

The IMSS completed the implementation of the Digital Health Card, with which The insured population over 18 years of age and their beneficiaries can access information about their medical care from the last 12 months from their cell phone. .

Vázquez Espinoza emphasized that this information serves as an aid in monitoring and providing timely care to the health status of beneficiaries . For the first time, personal data such as prescription medications, granted disabilities, laboratory test results, weight, height, and other information can be accessed from a cell phone.

"It's a tool that brings great value to our members because they can bring some of their medical information. It's an innovation; it's the first time the Institute has shared this information," he said.

Vázquez Espinoza recalled that This tool, available within the IMSS Digital application , began as a pilot test in November of last year in five units in Mexico City and gradually expanded its coverage, until its implementation throughout the country starting on January 2, with which it now has more than 36,000 registered users.

He noted that Social Security's goal is to empower its members and share information about their files. The Institute currently has more than 54 million medical records, making Mexico one of the countries with the highest number of these in the world. .

"While the DIDT was responsible for its development, it's a tool we're releasing jointly with the Directorate of Medical Benefits (DPM), in a collaborative effort between both departments of the IMSS," he said.

He explained that to use the Digital Health Card, you must download the IMSS Digital app, available on Android, iOS, and Harmony, select the Digital Health Card section, begin the enrollment process, enter your cell phone number to which a code will be sent via SMS, then capture your current voter ID card on both sides, and finally take a selfie to identify you.
