Doctors' union says hiring is good, but conditions need to improve.
"Welcome to the hiring plan doctors and health managers declared by Minister Schillaci, which however would have no value if it were not first realized attractive profession". With these words Pierino Di Silverio, national secretary of the doctors' union hospital workers, Anaao Assomed, comments on the recent statements of the Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci following of the meeting with the Minister of Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti added: "We are calling for robust and concrete measures." to improve working conditions; increase wages bringing them closer to those of other European countries; define a real reform of medical liability for the safety of doctors, health managers and citizens; aiming at a integration of the Royal University Hospital, preventing occupation wildcat of hospitals by universities which we are witnessing today". "Only in this way - continues Di Silverio - will we be able to retain colleagues - 8 of them leave the NHS every day - and bring them closer to those specializations that are becoming deserted". "At the same time it is necessary to modernise the employment contract of doctors and health managers, introducing criteria of greater flexibility and that are more suited to the new work dynamics and careers that are effectively blocked", he adds By Silverio. "We are convinced that the recent statements of the minister Schillaci there is no will to transform ourselves from NHS employees to freelancers. Let's avoid approaches ideological ones to health - concludes Di Silverio - which serve only to create confusion and let's work together to invest on NHS professionals. Above all, we ensure that from words let's move on to action without the intervention of 'little hands' ready to dismantle what is built."
