Take part in this first solidarity walk for blood donation in Cavalaire

To celebrate World Blood Donor Day in style, the Association for Voluntary Blood Donation (ADSB) " Sang pour Sang Cavalaire " is organizing a first walk this Saturday, June 14, to raise awareness of blood donation.
The goal is clear: to mobilize 100 walkers, donors, or future donors. Starting at 8:30 a.m., volunteers will meet on the forecourt of the Maison de la Mer in Cavalaire for a snack before setting off for Pardigon beach at 10 a.m. To reach their final destination, walkers will take the coastal path.
"Attracting future donors"" We would like to mobilize as many people as possible, to have at least 100 walkers and 100 pledges. Participants will write 100 thank-you messages to donors, which we will make available in the community center to motivate people and future donors during the collection ," supervises Cathy Rakotozafy, the association's secretary general.
" We're doing this to motivate and attract future donors, as reserves are dwindling. The entire population needs to rally around this initiative. Together, we want to create a formidable chain of solidarity to save lives ," insists Jean-Pierre Brandily, president of the ADSB. And for good reason: donating blood is a vital activity. Thanks to the involvement of thousands of donors, a million patients are treated each year. " We need to stop the prejudices: donating blood doesn't hurt. Above all, you need to eat well before coming, because it's not a blood test where you have to be fasting ," adds the president.
This action is also part of a partnership with the French Blood Establishment (EFS), the French Federation for Voluntary Blood Donation, the Var Departmental Union and the town of Cavalaire, in order to celebrate the birthday of the Austro-Hungarian Karl Landsteiner, Nobel Prize winner in Physiology or Medicine in 1930.

Several sessions are organized in the Gulf by the various associations. The one in Cavalaire takes place in the community hall, where a team of doctors and nurses is on hand to welcome donors and reassure them. Precise logistics are in place to pamper volunteers. " Between arrival and departure, it takes about 45 minutes to an hour for: care, filling out the questionnaire, the medical examination, the blood test, which lasts about 10 minutes, and the snack, " explains Salem, a nurse at the French blood establishment. " We all have a role to play: the sick are counting on you! Come in large numbers ," insists Jean-Pierre.
The next blood drives in Cavalaire will take place on July 15, August 4, and December 1 at the community center from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and on September 26 at the community center from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. To avoid any waiting, please book an appointment online at: dondesang.efs.sante.fr
