Three voted in favor, two against. Following the National Assembly's adoption of the bill on assisted dying, the department's deputies justified their position on a subject that divided the chamber.

"We experienced a very powerful moment." Like Socialist Party MP Océane Godard , the solemn vote on the two bills devoted to the end of life – one on palliative care, the other on assisted dying – generated a certain emotion for many elected officials. Many insisted on "the quality of the debates" within a chamber that was, for once, calm, around a subject referring to personal, family, and intimate experiences.

"This still reflects the ability to work on a compromise that makes sense regarding very important societal issues, but also an expectation of the majority of citizens," emphasizes Green Party MP Catherine Hervieu .
