Heatwave: A dome of heat settles over France for several days

The heatwave is escalating in France this weekend. On Saturday, June 28, fourteen departments were placed on orange heatwave alert. According to Météo-France, this "early heatwave episode" is expected to gradually spread northward and increase in intensity in certain departments on Sunday. Temperatures could "occasionally approach 40°C near the Mediterranean," warns Météo-France, which predicts a "stifling night from Saturday to Sunday, with around 20°C over a large southern half of the country, 22°C to 25°C in the southeastern quarter of France," and up to 26°C near the Mediterranean, "or even a little higher occasionally." The phenomenon is expected to last at least until Tuesday.
