Dijon: A case of dengue fever reported in the Bourroches district

For three hours, in the streets of the Bourroches district, a truck carried out a mosquito control operation, spraying an insecticide against the tiger mosquito, following a reported case of dengue fever.
The operation was carried out by the Rhône-Alpes Interdepartmental Agreement for Mosquito Control (EIRAD), commissioned by the ARS of Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.
It was in the Bourroches district that a person discovered they had dengue fever, after contracting the disease while abroad. The ARS therefore carried out an entomological survey on July 24, which revealed the presence of tiger mosquitoes "within the perimeter of a site frequented" by the sick person: in fact, once "imported", a case of dengue fever can spread if the infected person is bitten by a tiger mosquito, which will then transmit the disease by biting other individuals.
The ARS therefore, in accordance with the Public Health Code, instructed the EIRAD to carry out an "adulticide treatment" within a radius of 150 meters around the place frequented by the person suffering from dengue fever. The operation took place during the night of July 30 to 31, 2025, between 2 and 5 a.m.
The emergence of a new case of dengue fever follows the one detected in the Mansart district at the beginning of the month . The patient had visited an area where the presence of tiger mosquitoes had been established. The ARS indicated that "the post-treatment assessment carried out this morning (Thursday, July 31) shows the absence of adult mosquitoes in the treated area."
