Beaune. The tiger mosquito is everyone's business.

To address public health issues, the municipality of Beaune, represented by councilor Xavier Coste and elected official Virginie Leviel, in partnership with the Regional Health Agency (ARS) and the BFC Health Promotion association, organized a public meeting at the city's Palais des Congrès. The objective was to discuss health issues, prevention methods, and essential actions to take to limit the spread of this scourge with residents.
Bertrand Daniel, a research engineer at the Côte-d'Or territorial health and environment unit, spoke to provide some objective information. "The tiger mosquito, or Aedes albopictus, is at the heart of health concerns today. Its growing presence and the risks associated with the spread of diseases such as dengue fever, chikungunya, and Zika require exemplary vigilance," he warned. The meeting served as a reminder that the tiger mosquito is not just a summer nuisance. Beyond the inconveniences of bites, it poses a real risk of transmitting infectious diseases. The speakers therefore emphasized the importance of not underestimating the threat.
The ARS, in collaboration with the city of Beaune, plays a central role in entomological surveillance and the coordination of control actions.
The health professionals present recalled the awareness campaigns conducted each year, the importance of reporting cases of suspicious bites or mosquito bites, as well as targeted interventions in the most at-risk areas. The BFC Health Promotion association, for its part, supports local prevention initiatives, offers educational tools, and leads workshops to better understand the life cycle of the tiger mosquito.
