"Vody": The government is considering a "ban" on these alcoholic and energy drinks
Yannick Neuder, Minister of Health and Access to Healthcare, hopes that France will equip itself "with all possible levers to consider this ban."

"A real scourge." The Minister of Health and Access to Healthcare, Yannick Neuder, declared before the National Assembly on Thursday, May 22, that he was considering "banning" Vody, a mixture of vodka and energy drink , sold in colorful cans.

The minister was questioned on the issue by Olivier Serva, MP Liot of Guadeloupe. "Minister, what are you waiting for to ban this product?" asked Olivier Serva, recalling that Vody has been banned in Côte d'Ivoire since 2003.

The Guadeloupean MP also pointed out that this canned drink, which contains between 18 and 22% alcohol, represents "the equivalent of four shots of vodka in a row." According to Olivier Serva, Vody, whose advertising is aimed at young people in overseas territories, is responsible for several road accidents and health problems.

With medical training, Minister Yannick Neuder also denounced the "cardiovascular and neurological impact" of Vody on young people who consume this drink regularly, and denounced "extremely aggressive marketing aimed at our youth.

"We are going to have a prevention campaign aimed at our youth," he first announced, before adding that we needed to go further.

"We must use all possible levers to consider banning these substances, which are harmful to our youth," declared Yannick Neuder.

The minister cited a bill tabled by the GDR MP for Réunion, Karine Lebon, aimed at "protecting young people from alcohol advertising," asserting that he wanted to demonstrate "maximum firmness and zero tolerance for this marketing that attacks the health of our youth."
