Why are IMSS Bienestar workers on a hunger strike?

IMSS-Bienestar medical staff began a hunger strike last Monday, July 7, in front of the federal administrative offices of the institution, demanding dialogue. with the heads of the Health Care Unit and the Administration and Finance Unit.

The protest is intended to demand that the federal government address the needs of healthcare workers, who are demanding, among other things: Supply of medical supplies, payment of overdue labor benefits, granting of appointments with assigned hours, activation of the FONACOT (National Commission for the Protection of Labor and Social Security), monthly dialogue tables with state committees, full staffing in hospitals and clinics, as well as the immediate establishment of personnel transferred from state health systems.
However, members of the mobilization reported that, several hours after the protest began, No relevant authority has come forward to address their demands nor has it shown any willingness to engage in dialogue.
