How many cases of dengue fever have been recorded in Jalisco in 2025?

Although Jalisco is one of the five states with the highest concentration of dengue cases in Mexico—the others being Veracruz, Guerrero, Michoacán, and Chiapas, according to the Ministry of Health—the strengthening of the state's strategy against the disease has resulted in a reduction in cases in the region, as a downward trend has been observed in recent epidemiological weeks.
State Health Secretary Héctor Raúl Pérez Gómez reported that the number of cases recorded in recent weeks is lower compared to the same period last year. Only 22 cases were reported last week, compared to the 296 detected at the same time in 2024.

How many cases of dengue fever have been reported in Jalisco in 2025?The report of the Epidemiological Situation of Dengue in Mexico from the Ministry of Health corresponding to week 29, that is, the third of July, shows that J Alisco is the region that has detected the most cases of dengue fever so far in 2025, with a total of 997 confirmed cases.
Pérez Gómez attributes the steady decline in cases over the past eight weeks to the implementation of brigades since January, which include home visits to eliminate potential larvae breeding sites, in addition to fumigation actions both inside and outside homes. The strategy also includes the maintenance of public spaces, such as cemeteries and parks.
In the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area (GMA), preventive measures are being intensified in neighborhoods with the highest number of cases , such as Insurgentes, La Perla, El Retiro, and Lagos de Oriente. There are also reports in Las Juntas, Canal 58, Lomas del 4, San Pedrito, and El Tapatío (Tlaquepaque); Villas de Tesistán and Santa Ana Tepetitlán (Zapopan); Hills of Tonalá and Lomas de Oriente (Tonalá); Santa Anita, Lomas del Mirador, and Santa Cruz del Valle (Tlajomulco); and Felipe Ángeles, Loma Bonita, and Lomas del Aeropuerto (El Salto).

- Severe headache
- Nausea and/or vomiting
- General malaise
- Muscle or joint pain
- Pain behind the eyes
- Rash.
In many cases, the symptoms of dengue can be confused with other illnesses, such as the flu. In this context, the Mexican government warns people who have recently traveled to or live in an area where the disease is common that, when experiencing these symptoms, it is best to immediately suspect dengue fever and seek medical care.
It should be noted that people who have previously been infected, infants, and pregnant women are the groups most susceptible to becoming seriously ill.
Measures to prevent dengueThe most important measure is to kill the mosquito, kill the larvae and prevent breeding sites from forming:
- Remove or cover containers that can accumulate water
- Replace the water in vases and other containers regularly.
- Use mosquito repellent
- Wear clothing that leaves little skin exposed
- Keep patios and gardens clean
- Place nets on doors and windows.
