First aid apps in 15 Hessian emergency service areas

Wiesbaden. According to the Hessian state government, first aid is provided by specially trained people who are summoned to emergencies in their area using an app in 15 of the 25 emergency services areas. These " app-based first aid systems " are useful for minimizing the time without treatment in serious emergencies, especially during resuscitation, before the emergency services arrive, the Ministry of Health stated in response to a request from the FDP parliamentary group.
According to the information, such projects exist in the rescue service areas of Bergstrasse, Gießen, Groß-Gerau, Hochtaunuskreis, Lahn-Dill-Kreis, Offenbach district, Limburg-Weilburg, Main-Kinzig-Kreis, Main-Taunus-Kreis, Marburg-Biedenkopf, Schwalm-Eder-Kreis, Vogelsbergkreis, Waldeck-Frankenberg, Wetteraukreis, and Wiesbaden. The ministry reported that it is currently examining whether an amendment to the Emergency Services Act should introduce requirements in this area.
App searches for helpers near the sceneIn recent years, a network of so-called first responders, or disaster rescuers, as they are sometimes called, has developed in Hesse. These are usually employees of medical aid organizations and fire departments who volunteer for emergency operations. They are alerted by the respective control centers via an app, which searches for anyone who is in the vicinity of an emergency site. Participation is voluntary. (dpa)
