The debate about the new GOÄ is coming to a head ahead of the 129th German Medical Association: major medical associations are supporting the German Medical Association, and radiologists and laboratory physicians in particular are opposing it – but they are not the only ones.
Despite the criticism of the amendment to the medical fee schedule: If this does not come into effect, according to BÄK President Klaus Reinhardt, the long overdue reform will fail.
The Association of Private Medical Billing Offices sees advantages in the new GOÄ and appeals to opponents not to question the physicians' ability to act. The consensus-based draft GOÄ will be put to a vote at the Medical Association's Congress in Leipzig.
